The ancient nucleus of the hamlet, which contains the apartments and the small church dating back to 1100 (which contains frescoes by Meo da Siena del 1315-1319) has been declared a monument of national interest and is under the tutelage of the Italian ministry for culture.

The magical Medieval flavour of Borgo Monticelli is ideal for large receptions and weddings, with its original 1230 ceilings in the Sala Gotica, its towers and its magnificent views. The hamlet's little church dedicated to St Paul dates from the 12th century and contains recently restored frescoes by Meo da Siena depicting the Crucifixion and the Virgin and Child with Seven Saints.

Travel information
From the north - (A1 - Autostrada del Sole motorway), exit at Valdichiana (Bettolle) and follow signs for Perugia. Exit at Magione; turn right towards Magione. After 1 km turn left towards Chiusi and keep going, along Lake Trasimene. Continue for a further 6 km and turn left for Mugnano at the crossing for Montebuono. After Mugnano follow the signs to Castiglione della Valle. Once you have arrived at Castiglione turn left for Marsciano. Follow signs to the "Chiesa di San Paolo e Sant'Ubaldo" in Monticelli. Once you have arrived at Monticelli there is a rising road that leads to the hamlet. Detailed map
From the south - Follow the A1 motorway and exit at Orte. Take the E45 superstrada for Terni-Perugia-Cesena. Before you reach Terni turn off for Perugia-Cesena. Roughly 10 kilometres after Todi, exit the E45 at Marsciano-Collepepe. Continue for Marsciano and at the first roundabout turn right. At the second roundabout turn left Marsciano. After roughly 300 metres turn left for Perugia, Spina and Tavernelle. Once you reach Cerqueto, continue to the left towards Spina-Tavernelle. Roughly 3 km after the turning for Spina, and 500 metres after the turning for San Biagio follow signs to the "Chiesa di San Paolo e Sant'Ubaldo" in Monticelli.
